Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11- 18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Science  & Food Technician

Please note the start time for this role is 08:00, not 08:30 as previously advertised.

Starting in November, we are looking to recruit a professional and motivated Science and Food Technician to join our highly successful Science and Technology teams. 

This role is being advertised as a Grade B position and would be ideal for someone who may be looking at a career in teaching and wants to gain first hand experience of working in a school. 

You will need to have good interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and have excellent planning and organisational skills. 

Principal duties for the Food Technician part of the role includes preparation of ingredients and equipment; placing food shops online and in person; overseeing food budget; maintain general tidiness and organisation of the food department.

 Principal duties for the Science Technician part of the role includes providing assistance to Senior Science Technician and/or Technician; preparing resources and equipment; delivering and collecting equipment/resources from classrooms; general admin tasks such as photocopying/printing/filing. 

Previous experience of working in a school and possession of a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential as full training will be given.

 

 Hours of work:

 The role is split into two parts- Monday-Friday 17.5 hrs per week (08:00-11:30) (Food Technology Department)

Monday-Thursday 18 hrs per week (11:30-16:30) (Science Department)

 There is some flexibility around these hour and how they are split and this can be discussed at interview.

 Exams Invigilator

Each academic year we require a team of responsible people to invigilate for a variety of exams. The main exam periods are in December, March, May and June but we also run mock examinations at other times of the year.

We are recruiting some additional members for our existing team of exam invigilators. The hours are flexible and varied and will suit someone who is looking to make a difference and can offer their time on a casual basis. All hours are agreed in advance each year and can fit around other commitments.

You do not need previous examination experience, although an understanding of the importance and formality of the examination procedure and/or experience in managing groups of young people would be helpful. You may be required to travel to carry out home invigilation's, read and/or scribe for students. Training will be provided.
If you are calm under pressure, have a pleasant nature but a keen eye then this could be the position for you.
