Year 9 & 11 Netball League
We are pleased to announce that our Year 9 and Year 11 netball teams have been selected to take part in the East Devon netball league.
Tuesday 12th November commenced our first home fixture against Exmouth Community College.
Despite playing well, our talented Year 9 team unfortunately lost against Exmouth with a score of 28-17. This was against a very strong team who were previous league winners. We have been very impressed by our newly formed A team squad, who have committed to an extra training session each week. Halle Baker-Holmes and Sophia Lilley moved well around the centre court, demonstrating good ball placement, to allow our talented shooters Jess Sandford and Florence Mackie to shoot 17 goals! Grace Hill played well as our WA but was up against a strong WD. Grace adapted her speed to outwit her defender and managed to maintain the team’s possession. Our very talented defenders who overturned the ball consistently in the first quarter were Laila Brown, Lily Tomkins-Pope and Sophia Tagg. We are super proud of our Year 9 team and we are looking forward to seeing them progress further as the league continues.
Year 11 secured a fantastic win with a score of 36-13. The teamwork and energy was consistent throughout the game and the set play was embedded within the game. Amy Bourne and Poppy Golightly demonstrated their strong shooting skills by obtaining a high score in each quarter. Brooke Barlow, Bronnie Cassap and Shola Dow dominated the centre court, ensuring we maintained possession of the ball. For our defending team, we had Jess Massey, Molly Heath, Kate Dearden-Watts and Grace Alexander who consistently overturned the ball giving us shooting opportunities, to win the game. A promising start to the Year 11 league. Good luck next week with your fixture against Colyton.
