Budleigh Salterton Music Festival
On Wednesday, fifteen students from Jazz Band and Choir attended two concerts in Budleigh Salterton as part of Budleigh Music Festival. We were stunned by the virtuosic playing of Sophie and Magdalenna of The Corelia Project, a duo of professional clarinetists performing and celebrating the work of female composers from the 12th Century to the modern day.
After lunch we were treated to the inspirational Seckou Keita performing on the Kora, a traditional Senegalese instrument similar to the harp. Seckou and Future Talent, who are an orchestra made up of young, promising orchestral performers, played a world premiere of his composition Ataya for us.
An amazing opportunity and an immensely entertaining afternoon of concerts for our students who represented the school brilliantly. Budleigh Music Festival were so impressed by the enthusiasm of our students that next year we’ve been asked to perform!
Thank you to Mr Eales who stepped in to transport us there and back
