Clyst Vale Boys Inter House Euro’s
Congratulations to all 16 teams who participated in the annual Clyst Vale Inter-House fixtures this week. Coinciding with the UEFA European Championships in Germany, Clyst Vale ran their own version with each house colour having a selection of teams, participating as a range of nations.
On midi pitches and 6-a-side games, each squad was made up of a selection of students spearheaded with a Year 10 captain. The emphasis of these competitions is about participation, respect and enjoyment with Monday and Tuesday being busy lunchtimes, with three games being played for each country across the two days. The top two teams from each group would progress to the knock out rounds. Wednesday’s Deep Learning Day and Year 7s school trip meant a postponement to this day’s play but a shift to run both the quarter final and semi finals being played on Thursday lunchtime.
At the time of writing, both Netherlands (Yellow) and Scotland (Green) won their respective semi finals comfortably and will meet in Friday’s hugely anticipated final at lunchtime. We will update next week with the respective winners!
It must be said that all students conducted themselves extremely well across the week and certainly adhered to the aims of the competition and were competitive, yet respectful to all. Well done to all who competed and also to the various staff who assisted with the officiating and marshalling of spectators!
Next week sees the turn of the girls competition, with exactly the same format. Watch this space!
