Year 9 Mixed – National School Rounders Tournament 2023
Well done to our Year 9 mixed rounders team who competed in Leicester last week at the National Schools 2023 Rounders Tournament making it through to the quarter finals.
Clyst Vale went in to the tournament with two sets of play and tactics ready to apply and shifted between the two keeping the batters on edge and fielding as tight as possible. We progressively got better as we went through the tournament. Having lost our first game against Tapton School, we went on with our heads held high to win against both South Hensley Girls and Princess Risborough. Our final game was against the best team we had played, Chesham Grammar School. We played well, every one of their players hit every ball we threw at them even though bowler Amy varied her technique switching between fast bowls and donkey drops. Even though we lost and were knocked out at the quarter final stage, the team agreed that this was the game where we really shone.
Well done to the entire team who came together fantastically – each playing an important role.
Thank you also to Mrs Broomfield and Mr Stapleton for organising this tournament and for their coaching.
