Rights Respecting School – update
Clyst Vale Community College is a Rights Respecting School, meaning that the UN’s Convention on the 54 Rights of the Child is central to everything we do.
In July 2019, we received our Silver (Rights Aware) status from Unicef, and are now working towards our Gold (Rights Respecting) status.
It will probably take us a couple of years to embed the Convention on the Rights of the Child throughout all aspects of our work, to demonstrate our commitment to the Convention in action, and ultimately achieve the Gold award.
As a daily reminder to us all about what the Convention stands for, we will be putting these eye-catching posters up in all of our classrooms, as a simple summary of the 54 Rights.
This is in addition to the Sustainable Development Goals posters, which are prominently displayed throughout the school. These remind us all of the 17 areas where we need to work together as global citizens, if we are to end poverty, address issues of inequality and grasp the issue of climate change, in order to make positive changes.
