Good News! There’s a toucan crossing…….
We have been notified that work will start on the toucan crossing across the B3181 near the Dog Village turning on Monday 23rd February. This will also include a path on the National Trust-owned orchard, with the aim of making the crossing safer for both pedestrians and cyclists. Clearly, this is great news for Clyst Vale students and staff who cycle from the Pinhoe direction, and for Bradninch and Cullompton students who cross the road every day to the bus stop. It will also help to slow traffic approaching the village, and of course will benefit the whole community all year round.
Thanks goes to the Broadclyst Traffic Group led by Malcolm Roker and to Councillor Peter Bowden for their persistence in making this project happen. Other stages in the “safer route to school” along Station Road are planned for later in the year.
[Apparently, toucan crossings are so called because they are designed for pedestrians and cyclists, so “two can” cross the road]
