Storm Report

Clyst Vale’s buildings survived the recent storms very well, but the Valentine Day Storm did result in the loss of one mature tree close to the playground. Persistent rain had weakened the roots, and the strong winds caused substantial movement. So, the tree had to be taken down for safety reasons as it was a hazard to students and staff; further, it would potentially have damaged fencing, a paved area, the front of the Technology Block, as well as taking out several phone lines. It’s always a shame to cut down an otherwise healthy tree, but sometimes there is no alternative.
