Brecon Beacons Conquered
I’m delighted to report that the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award expedition arrived back in Devon safe and sound. A party of eight Devon students including Richard Dowell and Charlie Blake (pictured below) from Clyst Vale spent four days on the Brecon Beacons. Clearly, the heatwave conditions were a concern, but the expedition leaders are highly experienced and made sure that all precautions were taken. Well away from the sun, blisters were the biggest problem with over £30 spent on blister treatments! Well done to Richard and Charlie – these are the first Clyst Vale students to have progressed through bronze, silver and now gold awards with us. And, as ever, a huge thank you to Miss Barratt and Mr Eales who accompanied the party, and who had to walk the steep climbs to the checkpoints carrying up to 16kg weight of water!
