Exeter and District Cross-Country Running
Last Tuesday, 39 of our best, or bravest, runners made their way to Tiverton for the District Country Running Championship. Due to recent heavy rain and a stubborn landowner the course was downgraded to a succession of various laps around flat rugby and football pitches – rather tedious and with no inclines on which to accelerate past fading opposition. A number of our runners did struggle with this extended run, taking them out of their comfort zone and thereby suggesting to me that we need to incorporate more distance running back into our PE curriculum – watch this space. However, we were not without positional success in their respective races, as the following students finished in the top 16, and will qualify for the next round on Tuesday 11th December at Killerton – Caitlin Tyrrell, Amalia Gimbuta, Ed Waller and Toby Goodwin. Our final qualifier was Matt Dowell who comfortably won his Intermediate Boys race, making him champion of the whole of Exeter. Well done Matt.
