Cold Boules, Hands-On Science and the Paper-Bag Factory
Thursday 29th’s Deep Learning Day was as varied as ever! It was great to see some winter sun after last week’s floods, although this made it cold, and this may have affected the quality of Year 7’s boules playing as they enjoyed a Languages Day, which also included a quiz, tortilla-making and Clyst Vale’s equivalent of ‘I’m a Celebrity’ – snail-eating. Year 8 went on a visit to @Bristol to experience a whole range of hands-on Science activities; Year 9 had a theme day on shanty towns, which included making their own house from scrap materials and a simulation of paper-bag piecework to demonstrate low-paid work and its implications. Year 10 spent the day on a Science controlled assessment, while Year 11 completed a speaking and listening controlled assessment and a range of taster lessons for Post 16 next year.
Some photos below give a flavour of the day – more coming soon!
