Amnesty Group Cake Sale Success
Clyst Vale’s Amnesty Group, coordinated by Ms Money and supported by Mrs Oldfield, has been raising the profile of Amnesty’s Niger Delta campaign. The photo may look like a cake sale to raise funds for Amnesty, and it raised a total of £93.40, but it had a very serious educational purpose. In the Niger Delta, oil exploration is threatening the livelihood of millions of people, there is a legal case currently being brought against the oil company by Nigerian villagers in the USA, and (by coincidence) 92 people were killed in the Niger Delta when a petrol lorry crashed on the same day as the cake sale. The College’s curriculum is much more than just lessons, and the Amnesty group contribute a great deal to broadening students’ awareness and horizons.
