The Perfect Dive
The students from Clyst Vale’s A Level PE programme were lucky enough to attend the Royal Institute of Great Britain’s science lecture at Plymouth’s new Life Centre. The students were able to view the world class diving facilities with the elite squad training before attending a lecture titled Cutting Edge 2012 – The Perfect Dive. Three nationally regarded professors spoke on issues of psychology, biomechanics and neurology, before GB Coach Andy Banks took the stage. He addressed the application of science in his sport with help from medal winning GB squad members Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield. Demonstrations were given, questions asked and a considerable amount learnt. Many thanks must be given to the Royal Institute for providing the lecture, the Mayor of Plymouth for his welcome, for the use of the excellent facilities and to all the speakers.
